My dog had to have an emergency appointment last night & the Vets Now Reading team were brilliant. They were efficient, friendly, & caring. Joanne was the receptionist on duty & was extremely kind & helpful. Special thanks to Maddie the nurse for caring for my dog with such affection & treating him like her own :)

Sat there for almost 2 hours. Vet put the fear of God into me talking about cancer and needing to do further tests. I opted to do that via our regular vet and thank goodness I did - turns out she just has an ear infection which Vets Now missed! £340 for nothing. Do not recommend but unfortunately this is the only out of hours service in the area.

A big thank you to Paula (working Saturday 16th August) for treating our rex rabbit Bumble with an incredible amount of attentiveness and kindness. We brought Bumble in with signs of gut stasis. It is always nerve wracking to visit a new vet with a rabbit, but Paula instantly put us at ease. She took a holistic approach to Bumble’s care and thoroughly examined him from top to toe to make sure that there was no additional underlying issue. Bumble is usually a very nervous boy but Paula handled him perfectly, reducing his stress levels. The clinic was going through a busy afternoon, and it was very impressive how Paula balanced the range of patients whilst making each of us feel like our animals were in the best hands. Bumble is now back to eating and hopping around like usual! Thank you Paula!

I am leaving one star because the vet and the nurses were kind and (mostly) informative. HOWEVER, Vets Now as a company have been appalling! Firstly, the initial charge of £350, when people are at their most vulnerable and upset because of a beloved pet who needs urgent medical attention. Then, the exhorbitant overall costs - over £1100 to keep our cat in overnight, rehydrate and give her some laxative, with no diagnosis at the end of it. But he very worst thing was the aggressive manner which the surgery and the automated emails hounded me for payment. I had given my insurance details from the outset and the nurse had assured me that they would deal with the insurers from then on. They did not! The whole thing was a protracted affair, fending off their aggressive demands. My insurers, on the other hand and my normal vets were good and I did not experience this level of constant demands from them. Avoid Vets Now at all costs if you can!

VETS NOW at Reading - their out of service was brilliant- our elderly dog was treated promptly, professionally and with kindness - and so were we while we were so worried about him- the staff were amazing and reassuring- he spent the night with them having painkillers, intravenous fluids and IV antibiotics- he was transfered to our local vet Falklands in Newbury the next morning and they continued the excellent treatment ensuring he was comfortable and cared for and he is now recovering back at home. The vets in both centres were patient, very kind and understanding, we were also kept fully informed throughout. We are very grateful at 13yrs (91) hes bouncing back having had excellent treatment and care by all the staff- a very big thank you - he will be able to go back to enjoying his 'happy place' soon
